Privacy Policy
Sliplap is a free online robot battle game you play in your browser at sliplap.com. This policy explains what information the game uses when you play, why, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights you have. The short version: we use what we need to run matches and save your progress, we count visits with Google Analytics to see how the site is used, we keep recordings of the most recent matches to see how the game is played, we show no ads, and we never sell your data. If you buy something, our reseller Lemon Squeezy takes the payment; we never see your card.
Who we are
Sliplap ("Sliplap", "we", "us") is operated by [YOUR NAME], [ADDRESS] ([CONTACT EMAIL]). We run the game and the website at sliplap.com and is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us about anything in this policy at [email protected].
What we collect, and why
| Information | When | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| The callsign you type | Playing as a guest | To show your name to other players | In your browser; on our servers only for the match you are in |
| What you do in a match: movement, aim, shots, scores and chat messages | Every match | To run the match, keep it fair and show it to the other players | Only while the match runs, except in the recordings of recent matches (next row). Chat is relayed to the players in your match and not stored |
| Recordings of matches: every robot's position, movement, aim, shots, damage and score as the players in the match saw them; the controls each player pressed (movement, aim, firing and abilities); and each player's callsign or Google name, whether they played as a guest, and the account they played on. Chat messages are not recorded | Matches you play: we keep recordings of the 50 most recent matches that had a person in them | To see how the game is actually played, so we can find what confuses players, fix bugs and balance robots and maps | Until 50 newer matches have been recorded, then deleted automatically (usually within days). Only the Sliplap team can view them; they are not published or shown to other players |
| Your Google account ID, email address, name and profile picture | Only if you sign in with Google | To create your account, sign you in, and show your name and picture | Until you delete your account |
| Your progress: research points, credits, the robots, weapons and paints you own, stats (kills, deaths, assists, wins, losses, matches, best streak, captures, time played), match history (map, mode, score, result), daily check-ins, your hangar and settings | Signed-in players | To save your progress across devices and rank the leaderboard | Until you delete your account |
| Your purchases: what you bought, its order reference from Lemon Squeezy, refunds, and your subscription's status and renewal date | Only if you buy something | To give you what you bought, run your subscription, and handle refunds | Until you delete your account (Lemon Squeezy keeps its own sales records as the law requires; see below) |
| A sign-in cookie | Every player with an account, guest or signed in | To keep you signed in, and a guest's progress on this browser | A year from your last visit (each visit renews it), or until you sign out |
| Your account's approximate location: country, and where our network provider (Cloudflare) supplies them, state or province and city, worked out from your IP address (the address itself is not stored) | Each time you open the game with an account, guest or signed in | To see where players are, so we can place game servers near them and understand who plays | Until you delete your account (updated each visit) |
| A phone or tablet's visit to the "play on a computer" page: a random identifier kept in that browser, the type of device and the app it was opened in (from the browser's user agent), approximate location as above, the website the link was opened from, and which of the page's buttons were used | Opening Sliplap on a touch-only device (no account is created) | To count how many people try Sliplap on a phone and whether they go on to play on a computer | Up to 14 months, then deleted |
| How the game ran for you in each match: frames per second and ping to the game server (lowest, average and highest), how long that was measured, the map, mode and game server, your graphics settings and the size the picture was drawn at, and the name your browser gives your graphics card | Each match you play with an account, guest or signed in | To find and fix performance problems, and to place game servers where they play well | Up to 120 days, then deleted |
| Your IP address | Every connection | To connect you to a match and to limit abuse (for example, how many rooms one address can open a minute) | Not stored by the game. Our hosting and network providers may keep it in routine server logs for a short time, for security |
| Usage data collected by Google Analytics: the pages and game screens you open, your device and browser type, screen size, approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address, which Google Analytics does not store), how you reached the site, and a random identifier kept in a cookie | Everyone visiting sliplap.com | To count visitors and see which parts of the site and game are used, so we can improve them | Up to 14 months in Google Analytics |
| Your browser's local storage: settings, key bindings, a guest's hangar, cached lighting data | Everyone | To remember your preferences and load maps faster | In your browser, until you clear it |
We do not ask for, and do not want, any other personal information. Please do not share personal details in chat or in your callsign.
What other players see
Your callsign (or, if you are signed in, your Google name and profile picture), the robot you deploy and its paint, and your score in a match are shown to the other players in that match. If you are signed in, your name, picture and stats can appear on the public leaderboard.
Cookies and similar storage
If you sign in, Sliplap sets an HTTP-only session cookie, which the page's scripts cannot read, that keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary for the sign-in you asked for.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) holding a random identifier, so that repeat visits are counted as one visitor. They last up to two years and are used only for our site statistics. You can block them in your browser's settings, or install Google's opt-out browser add-on, and the game works the same.
Everything else we keep on your device is in your browser's local storage (your settings, and data that makes the game load faster), is never used to identify or track you, and stays on your device. We use no advertising cookies, and the site's fonts are served from sliplap.com itself.
Why we are allowed to use it
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another place with similar laws, we rely on:
- Providing the game you asked for (performance of a contract): running matches, and your account and progress if you sign in.
- Legitimate interests: keeping matches fair and the service secure, preventing cheating and abuse, fixing problems, measuring how the site is used, and watching recordings of recent matches, so we can improve it.
- Your choice: signing in with Google is optional; you can play as a guest without an account.
Who we share it with
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers who host and run Sliplap for us (servers, database and network providers), under contracts that let them use it only to provide their service to us.
- Google, when you choose to sign in with Google. Google's handling of your account is covered by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Lemon Squeezy, if you buy something. Lemon Squeezy is the seller of record (merchant of record) for everything sold in Sliplap: it takes your payment and handles the name, email address, billing address and payment details you give at checkout as an independent controller, under Lemon Squeezy's Privacy Policy. We never receive your card details. Lemon Squeezy tells us what was bought, for which Sliplap account, and when a purchase is refunded or a subscription changes; we keep those facts and do not keep the name, email or address that come with them.
- Google Analytics, which collects the usage data above on our behalf. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of players and of Sliplap.
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Match data exists only for the length of the match, except the recordings of the 50 most recent matches, each deleted automatically once 50 newer ones have been recorded. Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted. Account data (your Google details, progress, purchases, stats, hangar and settings) is kept for as long as your account exists and is deleted when you ask us to delete your account, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation or to resolve a dispute.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy of it in a portable format, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, including deleting your account, email [email protected] from the address on your Google account. We will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
If you would rather we did not keep a recording of a match you played, email us with roughly when you played and your callsign, and we will delete it.
You can also act yourself: sign out to remove the sign-in cookie, clear your browser's site data to remove everything stored locally (including the Google Analytics cookies), block analytics with Google's opt-out add-on, and revoke Sliplap's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account settings.
Children
Sliplap is not directed at children under 13 and is intended for players aged 13 and over (or the minimum age required in your country, such as 16 in parts of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the account.
Security
Connections to Sliplap are encrypted, the sign-in cookie cannot be read by the page's scripts, and access to our systems is restricted. No service can promise perfect security, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly on any problem.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and its effective date, and for significant changes we will tell you in the game before they take effect.
