Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and [YOUR NAME], [ADDRESS] ("Sliplap", "we", "us"), who operates Sliplap, for using the game and the website at sliplap.com (together, "Sliplap"). By playing or otherwise using Sliplap you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Sliplap.
1. Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use online services without a parent's consent in your country (for example 16 in parts of the European Union), whichever is higher. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has read and agreed to these terms with you. Sliplap depicts stylised Second World War combat.
2. The game
Sliplap is free to play: every robot and weapon in it is earned by playing. It also offers optional cosmetic items and a subscription for sale (section 4); they change how your robots look and how fast you progress, never what you can play with or how strong it is. We are always working on Sliplap, so modes, maps, weapons, balance and features will change, and we may pause, limit or stop any part of the service at any time. We aim to keep Sliplap available, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted or free of bugs.
Computer-controlled pilots. So that there is always a full battle to join, Sliplap fills matches with computer-controlled pilots ("AI pilots") whenever not enough people are online. AI pilots can appear in any match, on your team or against it, at any level of play. In quick play they are not marked as AI pilots: they have pilot names and appear like other players in the scoreboard, the kill feed and the chat. Custom rooms label the AI pilots their host adds. AI pilots have no accounts, do not appear on leaderboards, and are not counted in the numbers of players we show (such as the pilots in matches or a room's players). We do not promise that any match, or any part of a match, is played against or alongside people.
Match recordings. We may record the matches you play: the robots' movements, shots and scores as the players saw them, and the controls each player pressed, with each player's callsign. We do not record chat. We use recordings only to see how Sliplap is played, find bugs and improve it; only the Sliplap team views them, they are not published, and only the most recent are kept. The Privacy Policy says what is recorded, how long it is kept and how to ask us to delete a recording.
3. Accounts
You can play as a guest, or sign in with Google to save your progress. You are responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your Google account secure. Do not share, sell or transfer accounts, and do not use another player's account. Your research points, credits, stats, and the robots and weapons you earn are part of the game: they have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold or exchanged for money, and may be corrected if we need to fix errors or cheating.
4. Purchases and the subscription
Who sells. Everything sold in Sliplap is sold by our reseller, Lemon Squeezy, as the merchant of record. Lemon Squeezy takes your payment, charges any sales tax or VAT, and issues your receipt, and its own buyer terms apply to the payment. Prices are shown in US dollars before you pay; tax may be added at checkout. We never see your card details.
What you get. Store items are cosmetic: paints and other changes to how your robots look. Each item says exactly what it is before you buy it; nothing is random. When you buy one, you get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use it in Sliplap on your account. Items are not money and have no cash value: they cannot be sold, traded, transferred to another account, or exchanged for money or credits, except where the law requires otherwise. Sliplap has no currency that you buy with money.
The subscription. The subscription costs the monthly price shown at checkout (currently 4.99 US dollars a month) and renews automatically every month until you cancel it. While it is active, matches earn you 50% more research points and credits, and you receive that month's subscriber paint, which you keep after the subscription ends. It gives no robots, weapons or matchmaking advantage, and does not promise matches against people rather than AI pilots (section 2). You can cancel at any time from the link in your receipt email or in Lemon Squeezy's customer portal; you keep the subscription's benefits until the end of the month you have paid for, and you are not charged again. If we change the price, we will tell you before your next renewal, and you can cancel before it applies.
Your right to withdraw (EU and UK). Store items are digital content delivered as soon as your payment is confirmed. At checkout you ask for this immediate delivery and acknowledge that you therefore lose your 14-day right of withdrawal for that item once it is delivered. For the subscription, if you ask for it to start straight away and then withdraw within 14 days, the law may let us charge for the part already provided.
All sales are final. We do not give refunds for a change of mind or for an item you no longer want: every paint can be previewed on your own robot in the store before you buy it, and items are delivered as soon as your payment is confirmed. Cancelling the subscription stops the next renewal; the rest of the month you have paid for is not refunded. Lemon Squeezy, as the seller, may still refund a payment under its buyer terms, and any refund the law gives you is not affected. If a purchase is refunded or a payment is reversed (for example by a chargeback), the item, or the subscription, is removed from your account.
If things end. If your account is banned for breaking these terms, you lose access to the items on it, to the extent the law allows. If we stop running Sliplap, we will stop selling and stop renewing subscriptions, and give at least 30 days' notice in the game.
5. Fair play and conduct
Sliplap is only fun if everyone plays fair and treats each other decently. You agree not to:
- use cheats, hacks, aimbots, wallhacks, macros, scripts, bots or any modified or third-party client to gain an advantage;
- exploit bugs or glitches on purpose instead of reporting them to us;
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse other players, or post hateful, discriminatory, sexual or illegal content in chat, callsigns or room names;
- impersonate other people, including Sliplap staff;
- share personal information about other people, or spam, advertise or phish;
- interfere with or disrupt the servers or networks, including denial-of-service attacks, flooding, or probing for vulnerabilities without our permission;
- scrape, copy, reverse engineer or resell any part of Sliplap except as the law explicitly allows;
- use Sliplap for anything illegal.
We may filter chat and names, remove content, and warn, mute, kick, suspend or permanently ban players, or reset their stats, when we believe these terms have been broken, with or without notice.
6. Your content
You are responsible for the callsigns, room names and chat messages you create. You keep any rights you have in them, and you give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to display and relay them in the game for as long as is needed to run it, and to keep your callsign in the match recordings described in section 2. Chat messages are relayed to the players in your match and are not stored.
7. Our content
Sliplap โ its software, art, sound, maps and the Sliplap name and logo โ belongs to us or to our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play Sliplap for your own non-commercial entertainment. You may stream and record your gameplay and share it, including on monetised channels, as long as you do not suggest that we endorse you. Some models, sounds and fonts are used under their own open licences, such as CC0 and the SIL Open Font License.
8. Privacy
How we handle information about you is explained in the Privacy Policy, which is part of these terms.
9. Ending your use
You can stop playing at any time and can ask us to delete your account by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we have to for legal or security reasons.
10. Disclaimers
Sliplap is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, progress, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of Sliplap. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Sliplap is limited to the greater of what you paid for Sliplap items and the subscription in the 12 months before the claim, and 50 US dollars. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law while using Sliplap, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from any claim that results, to the extent the law allows.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Sliplap changes. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the game before they take effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.
14. General
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Sliplap's operator is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules; if you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and may bring claims in its courts. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a part of these terms, that is not a waiver of it. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Sliplap.
